Rails Girls. How it all began and what for
The story of Rails Girls dates back to 2010, Helsinki, where the first free workshop was organized. The prevalent idea was to make the programming knowledge and skills more accessible to women as well as to enable them to professionally develop in the IT sector, which had and still has the opinion of a masculinized one. As of 2018, the worldwide Rails Girls Community is constituted by 200+ events on all continents. And it’s still growing. Since 2013, Poznań, the capital of the Greater Poland region is part of the community. And we are extremely happy to play a role in it.
'Promoting women in the world of new technologies is what drives us. Rails Girls Poznań is not only an excellent opportunity to gain new skills. Our workshop can actually be the first step towards changing your work environment and finding employment in IT. Some of our attendees have already started their career in programming' - says Marta Wojciechowicz, COO at Prograils, who has been co-hosting the workshops annually.
Don’t miss the registration!
The registration has just ended. The chosen participants will receive confirmation via e-mail on September 10.
The Ruby-on-Rails programming knowledge and skills will be taught by the developers from various software houses based in Poznań, including Prograils. This year’s free workshop will take place at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.
All that every participant is required to bring is her own laptop, curiosity and hunger for knowledge. With the help of experienced staff, they will learn how to code their first web applications: simple blogs, to-do lists and photo albums. They will have the opportunity to present their work at the end of RGP2018.
The detailed agenda of Rails Girls Poznań 2018 is available at their official website. With this year's slogan "Rails to the Space", the Girls make it clear, that the world is clearly not enough for them!
